After installing Ubuntu Linux on a laptop with screen resolution 1920×1080 pixels or more, you may find that the icons and text appear to be small. You can alleviate the problem by taking the following steps.

1. Install gnome-tweak-tool

$ sudo add-apt-repository universe
$ sudo apt-get install gnome-tweak-tool

2. Run gnome-tweak-tool

  1. Click on “Show Applications” to sell all applications. Click on Tweaks.
  2. Click on the Fonts tab. Increase the font size for Window Title, Interface, Document and Monospace.
  3. Increase the Scaling Factor.

3. Web browser settings

Fine tune web browser settings. For example, in Chrome, click Settings. Increase font size and page zoom values.
